Trusts

Trusts are a relatively easy and very tax efficient way to set aside assets for future beneficiaries outside of the inheritance tax net. They can also be useful for:

  • Providing funds for your children’s education, maintenance, etc.
  • Restricting access to property by future beneficiaries
  • Providing for people who are mentally or otherwise incapacitated

We can advise on the most suitable type of trust for your purposes, liaise with solicitors regarding the constitution of the trust, and provide a full range of accounting services for trusts including trust accounts, trust returns and IHT forms in relation to ten year charge or on the exit of assets from the trust.

We are able to register trusts under HMRC’s Trust Registration Services (TRS) which is a requirement for any trust with a tax consequence.  This service is to be extended for all trusts from March 2020 and all trusts must be registered with HMRC by March 2022.

From 6 April 2020 we will also be able to deal with the Residential Property Disclosure (RPD).  All UK resident trustees will have to complete this disclosure and pay any capital gains tax if selling a residential property (subject to certain exemptions), within 30 days of the sale being completed.
